I vaguely remember years ago seeing something suggesting that if you were to observe a proton and antiproton annihilate with the naked eye you would see the tiniest flash and that was about it. Maybe it was more than one of each, but yeah, quantity matters a lot. Antimatter in Star Trek is obviously dangerous because you are using enough of it to create effects that require something akin to infinite energy.
