Any body play T&T anymore, or is it dead?

The most important thing about role playing games are easy rules. When the rules are easy like the rules in T&T the game just flows, as a result the players really feel like they are playing the role of an adventurer. When miniatures, strict rules, or anything else overshadows the game, the game suffers. But T&T rules are so simple that its almost like the game has no rules. For this reason I think T&T is the best role playing game there is, and I hope there is still many players playing the game.

I know a few people in Topeka, KS who play a great deal of T&T (it's their fantasy system of choice). I introduced them to it in 1999 or so (as a simple alternative to AD&D 2e) and it caught on better than I thought it would.

T&T has the problem that it's rules are a little too simple. Players can have a hard time predictign what they may or may not be able to accomplish, because the rules cover so little. When so much is handled by GM fiat, consistency and predictability of the laws of the universe tend to suffer, which to some isn't particularly fun.

Well, there was anew edition released last year, so FBI and Troll Lord must have been seeing some demand.

I think T&T is a great game for introducing people to FRPG, or those wanting a quick, rule-light game where the GM has the final word and isn't encumbered by rulelawyers and the pile of books they bring to the table.

Troll Lord had nothing to do with the recent T&T edition - it was FBI and Fiery Dragon (the game was even sold in one of their little counter tins). Honestly, you're not missing much. I'd stick to edition 5.5 (due for a reprint here pretty quick according to FBI, if it hasn't had one already).

I've been curious about the Fiery Dragon edition as well. Can anyone point to a review, or at least a list of changes?

We tried T&T once several years ago. It played well enough, but early on we found that one could get into a situation where neither side would win a fight. That kinda killed it for us.
