Any Feats to Give a Fighter or Paladin Spot as a Class Skill?

There's a feat in Unearthed Arcana somewhere that makes 1 skill a class skill for all your classes.

But that's only part of a larger variant that changes the way skills work, so there are no "skill points" anymore (you're treated as automatically having max ranks in all your chosen skills).

Oh hmm, thats true... essentially the feat gives you the cross class skill as a class skill + max ranks in it. Still, the idea is sound enough and most DMs won't have an issue with you spending feats to gain more class skills.. 2 per feat is probably fair, you should probably just talk it over with your DM tho.

Also note that, IIRC, the PHB or DMG recommends that if a skill list doesn't fit a particular character concept, you should feel free to change it...

That's the same thing I was thinking. And if you are worried about balance, see if your DM will let you drop another class skill and pick up Spot as a class skill instead.

I'm trying to make an epic Archer type, and one of the things I'd like to do is give him Distant Shot. The problem is that it requires 20 ranks in spot. And I'd like to be able to get it before level 37. The other problem being that all the other classes I've found that give spot as a class skill don't really work with the concept I have.

Help?
From Dungeons & Dragons Unearthed Arcana...
SKILL KNOWLEDGE [General]
You gain access to new knowledge and abilities.
Benefit: Choose any two skills from one of your current classes' skill lists. You now know these skills as [permanent] class skills.
Special: Instead of choosing two class skills, you may choose one cross-class skills (whether you already know it or not) and learn it, treating it as a [permanent] class skill from that point forward.

The feat quoted by Ranger REG is directly related to the MAX ranks skill variant.

It can be used for what you want if you read the wording to imply that you may take any 2 class skills from any of the class lists you have and make them class skills for all of your classes.

However the requirement is that you have more than 1 class.

The special benefit is pretty much what you wish anyway.

So it equates to take a feat, cross-class becomes class, which I personal think is a little expensive.

Why not buy Spot as cross-class and purchase eyes of the eagle or something that gives +Spot?

An alternative, and one I've used before, is to allow all those +2 to two skill feats to give that bonus OR make those 2 skills class skills.

That would not satisfy the requirement of 20 Ranks in Spot that he needs to take the Distant Shot feat.

Why do you think I add "[permanent]" for? ;)

Regardless of which class you took, or what skill points alloted for you when you gain a new level, a permanent class skill cost 1 skill point per rank and its maximum rank is character level + 3.
