Lotsa fun![]()
KenM said:I tryed it, I hated the combat system not being totally turn based and if you need to move one of your party you have to go out of turn based mode.
trancejeremy said:Yeah, but aren't the Baldur's Gate engine games like that as well? Even worse, actually? When I tried one, I ended up just yelling at the screen, because I couldn't controll all the party members, they'd run out to attack people and then get killed because they would wade into combat.
The NWN/KOTOR engine uses the same style of combat, but I found it easier to manage (I guess in part since you only have 3 characters)
Anyway, depending on what you are looking for, there is a tactical RPG called "Night Watch" supposedly coming out next week (I think the 26th?). Modern day, based on the Night Watch movie.
KenM said:With the BG and ID games, you had options on when to pause combat, end of every round, when someone in the party spoted an enemy, ect.. But when you moved someone, you stayed in combat rounds, it highlight the range of where the character could move when you wanted him to move in combat. When I first tryed BG I thought it was unplayable until i found the auto pause options.
trancejeremy said:Hmmmm, I guess I missed those options when I tried it. But I believe KOTOR has the same autopause options (at least on the Xbox they did).
<sigh> Anyway, I doubt it will happen, but maybe they will port D&D Tactics to the PC (and for that matter, the Mage Knight game for the DS). Probably not. I don't understand why stuff like "Jaws Unleashed" and "Cars" (or any Pixar adaptation - no offense, PC) gets ported to all platforms, while all the strategy/turn based RPGs always seem to be platform specific...
