True, but they announced the Elemental Evil storyline not long after the DMG had come out, and they announced the Rage of Demons storyline shortly after PotA came out. So it's not all that unlikely that we'll hear about 2016's first release before the end of the month - or by Christmas at the very latest.

I was responding to the idea that, shortly after SCAG goes to 'general release'--meaning November 3, or shortly thereafter--we'd hear something new. I find that unlikely. A month or two of silence is...a bit more of a delay than implied by Morrus' statement.

You've inserted the "shortly" yourself. I was merely indicating that the previous product wasn't out yet.

To be honest, I already know what it is, but I can't say anything about it. Suffice it to say that I am super-excited for the next release!

I know you can't say anything about it but I'm hoping it's not another AP. I want some variety in the releases instead... like moving on to another setting or a book on the planes, just something different. I'm not sure how many AP's I'm willing to buy, but I do know I don't want a whole bookshelf full of just APs.

Next release is going to be another single book AP. It should be out by March, just in time for the next season of AL--the "short" season of 2016 to be specific. Even if you don't play in AL, it's become a rule of thumb that the listed end of each season is the month of the next AP release.

As for the next non-AP release, probably won't be until closer to this time next year at the earliest. Just don't expect it to be about any setting other than FR. I predict that we'll be stuck in FR until at least the middle of 2017, possibly longer based on movie success.

That's true. They announced Rage of Demons in March, while Princes of the Apocalypse came out in April. So around now would be the expected time for the next storyline announcement.
(IF it's ready and will be out in the spring. More musings on that to follow...)

Of course, they also announced the Sword Coast Adventurer's Handbook in August, three months before release. So they could wait until later in November or even December for news of the next storyline. Heck, if aiming for a April release, they could even announce in January.
So... really any time in the next three months, or possibly even later.

This is assuming the next storyline is happening in the fall and not at August 2016. Each of the three publishers WotC has worked with so far have said they enjoyed the experience but it was a lot of work and they don't want to do it again anytime soon. So it depend on if WotC can find a fourth publisher to work with, if that company can deliver a full colour hardcover adventure in time. Or if they can still move it in-house.
