Any Linux gurus about?

Any linux gurus about feel like helping me get my cable modem working on either Topologi Linux or Mandrake Linux (I'm considering both distros right now, for different reasons)

But seriously, folks. With a cable modem, you've usually got an ethernet connection with dhcp. It's usually just a matter of installing a dhcp client and running it. I've had good luck with "dhcpcd", but it's been a while. Ultimately, you'll want to configure ifconfig to automatically invoke the dhcp client at bootup, then you're golden.

Of course, this thread is a few days old, and Tsyr is a resourceful guy, so he's probably figured it out by now.

Got my cable modem working, yes.

Now my graphics stopped working alltogether. :/

Well, crap. :)

XFree is a black art, and it's very difficult to provide help over the net. I'm sure those guys at the other forum know more than I do.

I will say this: When the screen goes blank, is it actually crashing the machine, or only blanking the display? If it's merely a too-high-refresh-rate type of problem, then you should be able to hit ctrl+alt+backspace to kill the xserver and get back to your terminal.
