And just something I like to point out, OA is as much a 'cannonical' product as the Psionics HB, or any of the class splatbooks. If your GM allows you to play a Monk, and allows the other players to use things like, oh, Tome & Blood then you are justified in using OA.

Just cuz he lets the splatbooks in, doesn't mean he has to let OA in. There are things in there that are waaay out of hand. (Falling Star Strike, anyone?)

Are there any good monk prestige classses out there besides those in Sword 'n Fist?

I have been disappointed by the offerings out there for monk, and must say that the best books out there for monk prestige classes are Path of the Sword and Beyond Monks

Path of the Sword has several neat concepts, specialists in an order or orders with specific goals. Further, the legendary classes let you make the awe-inspiring masters of the arts with amazing powers.

Beyond Monks introduces a new core class that also practices martial arts, but it also has prestige classes, many of which work well for monks, as well as a bevy of useful martial arts feats and advice for customizing monk orders.

There's a monk/cleric PrC in Joe's Book of Enchantment, the hand of Jherana. You would either have to convince your DM to include the deity, Jherana, as she is defined or change the role-playing prerequisite and find an appropriate deity to grant the cleric spells that the hands receive.

The best part about OA monks is that they can swap out class features for martial arts feats, if they want. So you make second level and normally you'd get Deflect Arrows, but you decide to swap that out for Choke Hold instead. Pretty cool. It allows you to build up a martial arts style chain, and if you get all the feats in the chain, you get a bonus free ability at the end for mastering the "style." OA is the best thing that ever happened to Monks.

True to the last drop. OA makes monks cool again, much more unique and flexible.
