Any Offical Answer on wether Potions can be Delivered via "The Other End"

Just for the sake of being a pedant:

I mean, what are the terms that are stopping us?

Swallow? "To consume or destroy as if by ingestion; devour: The building was soon swalloed by fire." OK, check, good there. If a fire can swallow a building, then surely someone's a...we'll stop there.

Imbibe? "To absorb or take in as if by drinking: 'The whole body . . . imbibes delight through every pore' (Henry David Thoreau)."

No where does it say that a potion must be swallowed via the mouth.

I don't see a problem, by RAW, aside from application.

Well, it still seems like drinking the potion, to me. Just skips the mouth. I’m thinking of the effects of potions functioning more like transubstantiation than ordinary substances. They trigger spells, after all. Somehow. Personally, I favor having to drop them into the stomach, but I can see going different ways with them, so to speak.

The matter seems open to interpretation. fwiw: the 3.0 FAQ said:
"Can undead, which lack metabolisms, use potions, which
require ingestion? I believe undead can use magic oils,
which are applied externally.
Potions require swallowing, not ingestion. Any corporeal
creature can use a potion (see page 191 in the DUNGEON

MASTER’s Guide), provided it can swallow. Anything with an

intact throat can swallow. Some DMs say skeletal creatures
cannot swallow, others say they can. Check with your DM.
Any corporeal creature can use an oil."


For me: magic is based more on belief rather than science. If your group believes that this could work (possibly because they have read stories about beer enemas), then I would certainly allow at least a chance of it working... it is a reasonable conclusion based on human physiology. Removing options for thinking outside the box would seem to lessen the whole point of role-playing.
