Any St. Louis/Illinois gamers going to Archon?

I'll be there for sure. It's only a half-hour from my house (at least according to Mapquest), so I probably don't even need to bother getting a hotel room.

I may run a game, but I haven't decided yet. The website doesn't say whether GMs get a break on the registration fee, so I sent an email and am waiting to hear back.

What other opportunities are there in the area?
There's CloverCon in Westport. Last year it was called StormieCon, but the same people are running it-- they just changed the name.

ShowMeCon is in Earth City. Rumor says this is run by (some of?) the people who did Gateway and Name That Con, but I don't know that for sure.

If you're willing to drive a bit there are various cons in Columbia, Rolla, Springfield, Kansas City, and so on.

Since I'm talking about events, I'll have to point out St. Louis Pagan Pride. It has nothing to do with gaming, but we need volunteers. ;)

Wow I didn't even know about these other cons. If I have fun at Archon again I'll probably go to more of these next year. I live about 30 minutes away myself, St. Louis county, but I'm staying at the Super 8 next to the convention center on Friday and Saturday night. Since it's 24 hour gaming I'd rather be closer so I don't have to drive back at 4 in the morning and drive back over at 10. I've been toying with the idea of running a game but since I haven't played ANY rpg since about 1994, just DM'ing, I'm itching to actually play.

I just got a response from the Archon gaming people. They say: there is no discount for GMs, game slots are either 4 or 8 hours, and sign up now because almost all the game tables are filled.

I don't think I'm going to bother signing up to GM. If I feel like it during the con, there's always the option of a pick-up game in some random area.

Although my ID says Caldwell, ID, I just moved to Quincy, IL last week. I'm begining to feel a bit hard up for a game. I am planning to attend I-Con in September, but I haven't hooked into anything local and regular yet. Thanks for the tips. Perhaps somebody will see my ad on the Gamers Seeking Gamers Section.

Well that bites.

I may attend, I haven't been to a con in quite some time, many years. In fact I think Archon was the last one I was at.

I'm suprised that I didn't know there was a con at Westport since I work there. I'm in the tall gold building with Robata's of Japan on the top floor.

So tasty and they throw food at you too!

Now, I'm really curious now how many locals we have here. I tend to lurk for the most part although I was a somewhat frequent poster back when EN was still running the show. I wonder how many others there are hiding in the shadows.
