So out of all the books released what are the "must have" books?

General consensus seems to be that the core rulebook, Scum & Villainy, and Starships of the Galaxy are the most essential. The Force Unleashed also has some prestige classes and rules additions that make healing easier, make droids more playable, and add crafting rules to the game.

Just a heads up, Starships of the Galaxy and the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide have become difficult to find, so expect some sticker shock if you go looking for those books online.

That wasn't known? He told me that at Origins.

I don't recall any mention of it over at the Wizards Star Wars forum prior to Rodney's tweet about it. Given that a number of folks over there are as much fans of Rodney himself as of Saga, I'd be surprised at people keeping quiet about it. Also, Rodney's tweet made it sound like it had been a secret before GenCon, since Dark Sun itself wasn't announced until then.

He didn't tell us what the setting was though we tried to get it out of him but he did say he was lead developer.

Ahh, if that tidbit filtered back to the Star Wars forum, I missed it. I expect it didn't though, because if someone knew, they'd have started a "What is Rodney's secret project?" thread.

Thanks! Out of what you mention I do not have Starships of the Galaxy.

Alt F4,

Thanks for the heads up on rarity, I found it for $26 at one of my normal on line resources, plus $3 shipping. I ordered the Dark Side source book while I was at it too.

Hmm... since you apparently saw one RCR book at your local source (as there's not a Saga Dark Side book at this time, nor has one been announced), double check and make sure you got the square, 160 page, 'first printing December 2007' Starships of the Galaxy, not an older book (I think there was an RCR Starships of the Galaxy).

Ah, yes it does look like I got an old Dark Side book, the Starship one has this WOTC ID number:

WOC2171472

and looks to be the right one.
