Anyone else having a problem with...

Damn if I know- never tried making PDFs before (never needed to). Its possible I simply didn't notice the option.

And if it is, that doesn't explain my PC-using buddies...nor why MU Mac would be telling me the created PDF is an unfamiliar format.

Yeah, the pdf function is just the mac's default pdf creator. A quick playing around with it shows that in general it works for me. I was able to get errors if I tried messing with the file too quickly before the computer was able finish generating the file (on my i3 iMac it takes about 15-20 seconds from the file appearing on the desktop to it being usable).

You don't mention having tried Adobe Acrobat Reader, to try and read the PDF files. Have you? It's a free download, from Adobe.com

You don't need a different PDF reader.

I'm making PDFs just fine on my iMac. I open the character in the builder, go to print, then choose save as .pdf.

No problems when I do it.
