I prefer football/soccer/calcio/etc to American Football anyway.

With regards who cares, I think you underestimate what it means to people here. This is our national sport and its a sort of David vs. Goliath thing going on, we are the perennial underdogs (except against Iceland) and victories over one of the world powers of football is virtually akin to winning the world cup for us!

Okay, I'm sure it's a great victory for Northern Ireland. But Brazil loses games to lesser teams too--it happens all the time. It doesn't mean there's a revolution in the sport.

Though, it also doesn't mean Northern Irelandicans should be less proud of the win. I didn't see the game, but you have to be playing pretty well to take down a team like Spain.

Every Ulsterman will have went to work this morning with a smile on their face, a swell in their chest and an extra swagger in their walk.

... From the game? I thought that happens pretty often in the morning, depending on how much they drank the night before.
