From my experience and what I've read, D20 is not the greatest for mecha games. A much better system is Mekton, by R talsorian. The mecha creation rules are great you can build just about anything with them.

That's what was said about modern gaming and Cthulhu, both of which are now disproven. As big a MZ fan as I am, I would love to see it supplanted by a D20 product that does the same thing just as well.
