Anyone Rocking StarBlazer Adventures?

The Green Adam

First Post
Hi ho ladies, gentlemen and 7th dimensional, cephalopods of a distinctly green-grey hue! I was wondering if anyone has read and played the often EN World header advertised StarBlazer Adventures yet?

I purchased it and wow...I mean WOW! 632 Pages of 70s era SciFi Space Opera wacky goodness with a simple, open-ended system that's a breeze to use and a pretty fun read. I haven't played it yet but I'm definitely thinking about making it my next campaign (after or alongside my current Mutants and Masterminds one).

Let me know what you think!

Read, yes. Played, no.

I've been playing Spirit of the Century (in some case adapting for my own purposes, such as tweaking it to run the Iron Lords of Jupiter retro-SF/planetary romance setting.) So I already have an appreciation of the FATE 3 system.

I dig that they extend the system to handle ships, organizations, and empire. This seems to be the right level of detail for player attention span.

I also dig that they give FATE some crunch. The make equipment, races, etc., a bit more meaningful and don't just pile everything on aspects.

However, it's competing with Mongoose Traveller for me in my headspace. And as I have history with Traveller and comfort with the OTU setting (and my take on it), it's a tough row to hoe for SBA.
