Anything on Grapple yet?

I haven't kept up to date on every tidbit that comes out. Has anything been shown about 4e grappling yet?

This is one of the 4e things I am most interested in seeing.

I don't think there's been much. We know it got an overhaul and that's about it.

It's not in the miniatures rules, which were released recently, but it wasn't in the old (3rd edition style) miniatures rules either.

Wait for the next preview book. WotC Presents: Grapples and Skill lists.

Actually I bet it will be similar to the SWSE version. how does that one work, anyway?

The problem many people have with Saga grapple is that you can't do anything without taking feats for it. But in essence:

Grapple checks are still in. Stupid size bonuses are still in but now follow the universal -10 -5 -3 -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +5 +10 progression.

Make an unarmed attack vs reflex defense to grab, if you win make opposed grapple checks.

Attacker (if they win) can choose to trip (need Trip Feat, if you win opponent's prone, grapple over) or pin (need Pin Feat opponent takes no actions next round).

If tripping you can also throw with the Throw feat to move them into another square as well, if Pining you can deal damage with the Crush feat.

This is total speculation, but I think all of the traditional combat maneuvers (bull rush, disarm, grapple, trip, etc.) are going to be at-will powers.

Elaborating: even without any feats, once you've grabbed, they're Held, and you get bonuses with attacks with light weapons against them, and they can't just run away from you.

So pinning takes feats, but just grappling with a few of the less potent uses can be done by anyone.
