AoO

First Post
Now, I know that everyone gets their 1 free AoO question post, so I'll go ahead and take mine now. My friend thinks that you get an AoO against you when you move into a threatened square, not just when moving out, I think that you only get attacked when you leave, who is right?

There should be a rule, maybe a law, against this but I'm actually going to answer a an AoO question! (and even give the right answer)

You are. :)

Attacks of Opportunity (Part One)

Attacks of Opportunity (Part Two)

Key Points

You can provoke an attack of opportunity in the D&D game in two situations, and here they are:

  • You provoke an attack of opportunity when you're in a square on the battlefield that a foe threatens and you leave that square.
  • You provoke an attack of opportunity when you're in a square on the battlefield that a foe threatens and you take some other action that provokes an attack of opportunity.

Oh Welcome to the board too! :D

You're right, but... a lot of people on here will recommend you don't use those articles as your source -- some of them are pretty wrong.

Oh, and welcome to the boards!

If you don't use "Skip & Andy's House Rules", it's right there in the PHB:
Moving: Moving out of a threatened square usually provokes an attack of opportunity from the threatening opponent.
