Apprentice level characters??

It's a variant, not in the SRD. With it, you get to choose two classes at 1st-level, and get "apprentice" or approximately a half-level in each class (one must be a favored class). You get approximately a half the BAB, saves, abilities, and spells normal for a level in each class (in a table on DMG p. 40). One is "primary" for hit dice and starting skills. At 2nd level you have one level in each class and proceed normally.

You may wish to ask for the specifics of a given two-class combination.

Thanks, DC. I'm doing a sorcerer/rogue, with rogue being the primary class. The only thing I am having trouble figuring out on my own is spell progression.

Agemam's got the spells above (Charisma bonus applies).

Apprentice Rogue/Sorcerer: BAB +0; SV Fort +0, Ref +1, Will +1; no special abilities; HD, skills, equipment, proficiencies as a 1st-level rogue.

The apprentice rules for psionics were printed in the Mind's Eye, on the WotC website. If you download the .pdf archive of it (which I highly recommend) it's page 92. Here's what it says:

Psion: +1 Will, 2 Psionic Combat Modes. 1 power point (plus bonus PPs and 3 free Talents per day), and the 1st-level supply of known powers.
They also get a Psicrystal, but it only provides half the normal benefit, has INT 5, and only has the Empathic Link special ability.

Psychic Warrior: +1 Fort, 1 Psionic Combat Mode, 1 bonus Feat, 1 power point (plus 2 free Talents per day, but PWs don't get bonus PPs), and the 1st-level supply of known powers.

Thanks, Spatzimaus I had forgotten they put those in Minds Eye and I have that PDF (which is better that some source books I have bought for WotC).

Dog Faced God if you want a full list of the apprentice level characters for the base classes look in the DM's Guide.
