Arcane Heroes - Eldritch Strike Fail

Hmm an at-will slide effect. You know what that means: polearm momentum! Throw in polearm gamble for fun on opportunity attacks. You don't even need heavy blade opportunity or a glaive because it counts as a melee basic attack.

Half-elf bards and paladins rejoice. :D

A while ago I sent an article query to Dragon introducing a new warlock pact that'd be mostly melee-based.

No reply.
I've wanted something like this since Complete Arcane. Hideous Blow was hideous, Eldritch Glaive (I think that's what it was called? the one where you got a touch-attack, AoO-capable glaive) was cool but it was only a single invocation.

4E warlocks, with their comparatively better hit points and decent AC have even more room for a melee option.

For what it's worth, it was the Rakshasa pact.

If I know the 4e rules as well as I'd like to think I do, there is no way a Tiefling Warlock could ever pick that power (with the Eldritch Blast and Pact at-will as class features).
I don't like how warlocks are forced to pick their at-wills based on their pact. I think they should be free to just pick whichever two they like. If this means some warlocks don't know Eldritch Blast, so be it.

I actually think warlocks should have to take a pact at-will... but I think eldritch blast as a _bonus_ at-will would be very appropriate.

... that said if I redesigned the warlock I'd probably do it the other way. Pact Boon and at-will is the bonus, and then I'd design an actual selection of at-wills to choose two more.
