Arcane Schools

Even so, it just seems unrealistic that they'd not last. I mean, military schools/fighters guilds/etc would gather the same amount of threat and danger, since all things are equal.

Well, I imagine new military schools would have trouble lasting long, for the same reason.

Wizards also have access to rituals and that can upset the status quo the way a new mercenary army won't.

By the way...did any one else think that the art for the article page looked suspiciously like two Jedi?
I did, and was about to post a comment about it. :)

To follow up on the above poster's comments, military schools take the guns away from the cadets at some point. Wizards are always "locked and loaded".

I've run a campaign that was entirely school-centric, and with the right players, it can be all sorts of fun. It is more enriching if you veer away from the violence and focus on inter-party relationships (ie with other people, not necessarily romantic) and PC-NPC relations.

So I finally read the article... Hrmm I'm torn.

Crunch is crunch, so cool.

I like the concept, and the idea- but the writing just "bugged" me. It felt very ummm staccato? Like some of the sentences just should have been combined into a single sentence, instead of 3 seperate sentances, and sometimes the thoughts didn't seem to "flow" properly into the next one.
