H Hawkwind Explorer May 31, 2008 #3 so one feat and start wearing magic leather armour. Also I can't see a penalty for wearing a set of armour you don't have the right feat for. The check penalty seems to apply regardless of whether you have the penalty or not

N NMcCoy Explorer May 31, 2008 #4 Note, though, that the wizard won't get his Int bonus to AC if he wears heavy armor. Probably best to stick with light. I don't think there's a penalty per se; I think you just don't get the AC bonus from armor you're not proficient with.

jasin Explorer May 31, 2008 #5 It's -2 to attacks, -2 Ref if you wear armour you're not proficient with. So if you think Combat Expertise for -2 attack/+2 AC is a good deal, try out pull plate, for -2/+8.
