Archer Cleric?

Dunno, did you?

If you want a tough character, roll up an elven cleric with the War and Elf domains, and take the composite longbow. The character can start off with Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, and WF: Composite longbow at 1st level, with True Strike as a domain spell. Nasty.

I think it's because with all the Buff Me spells, a cleric can become a better archer then a fighter the devotes himself and takes archer prestige classes.

Nothing wrong with them. I'm playing an elven cleric of Solonor (in an FR game). If you take the Elf and War domains, you'll get two free archery Feats (Point Blank Shot and WF: Bows).

There may be ways to be a good archer without being an Elf, but you'll either have to blow a Feat on MW: Bows, or be contented with Crossbows or Slings.

Not necessarily. In Greyhawk, you could be a cleric of Phaulkon (favored weapon longbow, war domain). I'm sure that there are similar deities in most campaigns.

The real advantages of elf for cleric archers are the +2 racial dex bonus and the elf domain with Point Blank Shot as a granted power and Cat's Grace as a 2nd level spell. A human cleric of Phaulkon could use his bonus feat for point blank shot but won't be able to cast Cat's Grace and won't have the +2 dex.

I've always wanted to peep at this Elf domain . . . Is it Open Gaming Material? If so, could someone post it?
I'm sure it's in the Broken Realms; sounds just like the usual WotC strategy of "buy yourself a more powerful character".

Uh... Sure. Spells like Snare, Tree Stride and Commune with nature are what overpowered characters are made of...

Why wouldn't he be able to cast Cat's Grace? It's part of the general cleric spell list.
