I consider myself a "half-geek". I enjoy computers and other geekish hobbies as much as the next person, but they are not my entire life.
Now I wonder if anyone has made a "half-geek" template that I can apply to myself.
Worked with mainframe for 22 years, PC for almost as long, write a little code, create web pages, show people 'how to' do simple task, have title computer operations supervisor, BUT still do not think of myself as a guru.
Not even honorary guru? Hmmm...perhaps I should have used the word "expert". I like the quote, "An expert is simply one that knows more than you". That keeps the whole business of expertise vague enough, at least for politicians.
I am our groups' closes thing to a computer guru. (I know where to that them to get stuff installed and can get PCgen to work most of the time.)
None of our group uses computer out side of games and general office work, and none have more then a year of collage. Most of the gamers I know are about the same level.
I personely am a Admin Tech (i.e. do basic typing and filing type work with out suprevision like a clerk needs.)
