Who cares!!! Ya both have different playing styles!! Who cares if Jeremy wants his wizard to have 50 1st level spells with DC's of 60. And who cares if Pax wants his wizard to have 2 1st level spells with a DC of 13 and a bunch of secondary skills that are worthless EXCEPT for the fact that in your mind it seems you have a well rounded character. =o)

You pick other feats or skills because those don't have that much of an effect on spellcasting. Skills besides spellcraft and concentration have little spell effect, so wizards can buy whatever they want cc. Feats have diminishing returns problems. Metamagic has built in penalties, and isn't really that appealing for me. Empower, Quicken, and Extend are the big feats there. You can only take so many Spell Focus type feats before they become redundant - and some schools don't really need it. There's a point where additional feats can be used for other things - whether PrC requirements or amusing toys.

LOL

We do, of course! We are engaging in the time honored utterly useless activity of trying to get someone else to recognize the validity of your own playing style! :)

But as I cannot show Pax how high powered characters in my game are as rich and colorful as the low powered ones in his game...

As as he cannot show me the two dimensional power hungry characters that he has played with or observed in the past...

We can go on forever! Or at least until one of us loses patience, or temper, or goes and says something he shouldn't (I hate kobolds! :D), or until the internet caves in, or until frog legs become the in thing in Zimbabwe, though come to think of it I don't see what that has to with it, but it reminds me of the time my uncle scratchy and I sold a truck of turnips to the Queen of America...

(:D)
