Are the boards slower than before?

On top of that, there may be a certain time dependance to the load. The past couple of days, the boards have gotten really slow around lunchtime and early afternoon EST, while the morning is fine. Lots of folks using their lunchtimes to check the new boards.

Your Absolutely correct. Lunchtime is hopeless for me to get on. After 3pm (PT) it seems like it is back to normal.

Same here. OTOH, They have been so slow I couldn't access them, but thats only happened a couple of time

Yes, but it's by the number of people.
There are currently 120 members and 67 guests (187 total people) on the boards.
So it's not running too bad.
But when we get around 200 it really starts to chug, 250+ begins the breaking point of having no pages load etc.
Not having avatar, sigs, postible images, attachments, and polls would cut down on the resorces a lot and make it run smoother, but they switched over so they could use all those functions.
vBulletin does take less power then the old ubb, but with all the new funtions we are using it takes more.
And they haven't even turned everything on yet.
So, it's all really up to what you want on the board.
I think it's okay the way it is even if it does chug a lot when a bunch of people are on.

BTW for the most part membership has reached it's saturation point.
We've only gotten like 200 new members since last friday, so the rush is over.

Yeah, getting to the site itself is no problem, but during the afternoon I have problems getting to the boards...

I find that the boards are much faster than before, even with the added slowdown of Avatar retrival. However I am not usually on the boards during the 12 O'Clock rush.

Fortunately you can shut the avatars (and images) off in your profile.

I have found the new boards pretty fast for me (but I don't tend to access them at noon or late afternoon). Those with dial up should probably consider shutting off avatars and sigs at least for the next couple of weeks. In the Meta Forum Morrus said the vB boards ARE faster but we'll just have to wait until the rush to re-register dies down.

I have Cable and a lot of times I can't even get the boards to load, and even if they do (several minutes later!!!), then it takes just as long to open up a forum, then just as long again to open up one thread and just as long again to post... It's extremely frustrating to never know when I'll be able to get access to the boards.

So if it takes a long time, take a look.

This is what it says right now for me so it's fast:
Currently Active Users: 51
There are currently 29 members and 22 guests on the boards.

If it says there is like: Currently Active Users: 255 it will be very very slow, like 2-10 minutes to load a page slow.

Depends on the time of the day for me. After 3 PM Eastern US I sometimes have trouble getting on them. Not really sure if it is the boards or my location (work).

There are a number of things you can do to that may help out. Edit your options. You can turn off sigs and avatars.
