Hmm. Looks I'm in the minority but I really didn't like it very much.
I liked some of the critters, but that's about all.
I actually thought the system was pretty horrible. We playtested it for a while but it simply didn't work for us. It caused me to avoid SF settings for several years after.

My only return to SF (not counting Shadowrun - which I don't count as an SF setting) was with the Fading Suns setting which I liked a lot better.

The system is quirky at times, but some parts are really brilliant.

I liked the XP system for both its simplicity and universal application. Given out only sparingly, the XP could be used directly for Ability Stat increases, Racial Special Ability increases, Skill Increases, Languages, Advanced Spaceship Skills, Career advancement (Star Law, UPF Fleet), and I am sure I am missing others.

Class-less, Level-less, and yet characters advanced all the time. I love it.

Man, I loved Star Frontiers, in fact I still do.....

Heck, I still have the pipe dream of one day turning on the TV and seeing a commercial for Star Frontiers show, be it animated or loads of special effects....

Either way, Star Frontiers rocks!

A SF tv show! Wow. What a great idea!

I loved it, my friends hated it. I was a closet fan for years and ran myself through solo adventures just to get my fix. I think part of the reason for my later impatiality as a GM came from having to ref myself during that period.

I was not a fan of the D20 Future stuff. It always seemed like they just threw in a little bit of Star Frontiers nostalgia just to sell that product, but not enough to give anyone a real Star Frontiers game. I might have liked a real Star Frontiers D20 Modern/Future treatment, but to me it just was not the same.

All the more reason that I was really happy to come across that site. www.StarFrontiersman.com

There is also a little group of folks who are trying to come up with a 'Star Frontiers 2.0' game... going back to basics and trying to re-think the mechanics from the ground up. I am interested to see what they come up with, but I will likely stick with the original rules for now.

Meh. I'm not surprised considering d20 Future is more of a toolbook and less of a full-version campaign setting.
