Are there any good ways to meet other players

Glue a bunch of d20s to a hat, and walk around.

Get a T-shirt with a gamer theme (e.g.: http://www.cafeshops.com/thegamer or http://www.cafeshops.com/RBastard or http://www.cafeshops.com/bluedice or... hey, where's that one with the big prominant d20 on a bad roll with a profanity? that one's really the best...) and walk around.

Juggle large d20s in public.

I found my current group while hanging around at the local gaming store. My (then-future) DM was there looking for players to replace a few he'd lost to scheduling conflicts.

You might also try www.rpgregistry.com . You can search for other players as well as games by location.

I checked Yahoo groups and created my own searchable group. Effie Rover's site also has a decent list of Gamer Registries.
