Are there DR/untyped monsters?

I agree, which is why my group house ruled DR, such that DR applies to all non-magical sources of damage (including damage dealing spells with SR=No). Just seems better that way. Your mileage may vary, of course.

But by the RAW, Hyp's got it.

So, say two hill giants are standing on the top of a 150ft vertical cliff. The PCs are standing at the bottom of the cliff.

Giant #1 throws a 60lb rock at the PC directly beneath him. This requires an attack roll, and does 2d6+7 damage.

Giant #2 drops a similar boulder on another PC. The rules are unclear on how to determine whether or not the boulder hits (or whether or not the PC can avoid it), but it deals 5d6 damage.

Right?
 

You might go similar to the higher ground rule... and simply ADD the falling damage to ranged attacks from above :D

Yeah, that's deadly. That's what they built castle walls for.
