Also, when are we supposed to get the final bit of info from the interview with Greg Leeds, you know, where he was going to tell us his vision of D&D and where it was headed.

Or the improved communication about DDI progress promised by Ken Troop?

...I want to address a few things, in the hopes of both giving all of you more information as well as being the start of what I hope and expect to be a fruitful dialogue between the D&D Insider team and the community.

He hasn't posted to the WotC boards since 8-16-08, and as far as I know, he wasn't among the Gleemax/DDI fallout casualties.

Yeah, they're going to update them. Kyuss got a 4e updated didn't he?

Oh wait, you mean for free in a book/collected format titled the same thing as it was in 3e?

Silly man.

No, seriously, I've asked this too. Never get an answer.

It'd be nice if someone at WoTC manned up and either said it's still on the table of due to circumstances NOT beyond their control that it's a dead issue and its time to move on and we'll see these updates in various 4e books that we'll pay for again.

I think it's been pretty obvious that if/when these get updated, they will show up on D&D Insider. Whether as a part of your paid subscription or as a freebie article, I believe is unclear.

I mean, each of those books did have the D&DI logo which directed you to the website for the "additional material".

Yeah but at one point, the DDI was meant to be much larger than it's turned out to be. Heck, even the Dummies books for 4e talk about some of the utility that's. "coming soon"

It would be intersting to see a list of promised DDI capablites notating what was met and what is pending and what is vaporware

Basically just the VTT and the CV (which really is a subset of the VTT). For the largest set of empty promises, look to gleemax, which was to be the myspace for all gamers.

What we are "missing" from the D&DI suite is the virtual tabletop (and the associated character modeler). There were some cool D&D features hyped as more a part of Gleemax, such as sharable character sheets and DM blogs.

But if/when WotC releases 4e updates of the books in question, what other format could they take? There is no way they will release a printed product, that'd be silly.

(hope I don't sound too argumentative, it's not my intent)

Free PDF.

After all, if you bought the hardcover, there's no guarantee that you're a DDI subscriber.
