Never even heard of it.
V.good epic fantasy series by Tad Williams. Unlike that other epic fantasy series by R*b*rt J*rd*n, stuff actually happens in this one. The last book is overly long, so much so that they split it into two for the reprints; but that's a common problem with authors who get too successful for their own good. Dark elves dwelling in icy mountain peaks just reminds me of Ineluki, the Storm King, and his race of evil sithi.

IMC, Drow exist, but are rarely seen. I will never allow a drow character. I'm not sick of drow as much as I'm sick of everyone wanting to be one. I'm lucky that my current gaming group isn't into being a drow and happy to use the regular core races overall.

I had a player play a Drow once. He lasted one session, it basically went like this.

As you pass through the gate of the city one of the guards notices a black skinned white haired elf. A shout goes up and you find yourself surrounded by a ring of steel.

Drow player: "I'm good! I have turned my back on the evil ways of my people and wish to live together in harmo..."

Guard: "Yeah right" *stab hack maim* The guard who killed him ended up turning his head into the local lord for a substancial bounty at which point it had gentle repose cast on it and was displayed on the front gate for all to see untill the spell wore off.

Remind me never to play in your games. Ah, and stone you to death with dice.

I once loved drow, in fact I like the drow of Greyhawk, but the FR over-exposure has turned me against them. I want them to be still mysterious, still below the earth, and in my Greyhawk campaign don't worship their own gigantic pantheon, but venerate demon princes and lords.

Then you should check this out... :) I think it's got a lot of what you're looking for. We released it at GenCon and it should be hitting stores soon, if not immediately.

As long as he's an NPC... and not a Vhaerunite, but an atheist like any other drow male.

As long as that doesn't happen in the FR - for they are only few atheist drow in the FR..

I am pleased to announce -- with the results now in and verified (polls closed Drizzt lovers!) -- that we are INDEED sick to death of the drow.

Like Arnie "the Governator", I feel vindicated by the masses.

I thank you. ;)
