Are you a "problem player"?

All I know is the one valid reason my player had for trying to get around the inverted ziggurat is because his years of playing made him afraid he would die. And unlike White Plume Mountain, I don't see any adventures these days saying "If a character is foolish enough to puncture the membrane," all the characters drown in 10d6 boiling water.

I'm a bad player in that

1) my mantra is "No gaming is better than unenjoyable gaming". I will excuse myself and walk out on a DM or group whose style or system is one I do not enjoy.

2) I may be one or two sessions behind in leveling/spending points/ buying skills. I love point base systems and purchasing skill ranks for games like 3e DND (and dislike systems that grant you automatic skill bonuses, because you leved) . However, gaining new power/bonuses is not my main reason for playing so I don't feel any imperative to upgrade the character sheet until the urge strikes me to do so.

3) I'll have my character leave the party or retire rather than a) have my character go against his established nature just because "we are playing a game" (e.g., my heroic character is not going to let innocents be excecuted, because the rest of party wants to gain more info on the people in power) or b) continue adventuring if his motivations/goals direct down a new path that does not include remaining with the party.

This thread is beginning to amuse me, because it's starting to resemble the classic job interview exchange:

Interviewer: So, what is your weakest quality?

Interviewee: Well, I'm a little too likable. Tends to distract the women in the office, IYKWIM, AITYD. Sometimes I work so diligently that I don't have time to bake my famous peanut butter cookies for office parties. Oh, and occasionally, in addition to my other duties, I wash the boss's car and track just a little bit of sudsy water into the office.

Mmmhmm.
