IMO WOTC totally missed the mark with dieties & demigods. Greek pantheons? Egyptian pantheons? Give me a break. How about the panetheons of their own created worlds? I know Greyhawk is in there but how about Forgotten Realms? That would have served a lot more purpose and would have been a lot more interesting. Then again I am put off in general by D&D worlds that interspere bits of earth mythology.

But then they couldn't release "Faiths and Pantheons". :)

I'm shooting for Epic Level, Deities and Demigods and MM2. CoC looks cool, and I played older versions, but I'd never have the time to play another game these days :(

I will probably buy all of the books. One of our group's DM's really has a few of us interested in Cthulhu, so I see buying that book soon.

The only one that I will hesitate on is Deities and Demigods. Will have to check the book out first.

Have you checked the DaD spotlight on the Wotc website?

Okay, I've just read it...

apparently CR use is determined by 20+Character Level for Greater Gods atleast...

Where did it say this (I have read through twice now; have I missed something?).

Incidently the above doesn't make sense anyway Azathoth is 72HD + Divine Rank 20 and he is only Challenge Rating 50.

Initially I thought WotC were infering CR = 30 + Divine Rank?

It wasn't anything much...

Just a reference to the fact that all gods were to fit within the confines of a 60th level character...does any god have 60 class levels?

Deities and Demigods and Monstrous Manual II for sure. Probably the Epic Level handbook as well, though I'll most likely wait on that one for awhile. I'm spending enough money on this stuff as it is. One question: when is the Monstrous Manual II due to be published?

I think you have picked up on this wrong...

We worked closely with Andy Collins as he was developing the essential rules for the Epic Level Handbook to make sure that the deities work as game-legal 60th-level characters.

There is no imposed limit, nor reference to Challenge Ratings.

OH

i never meant to imply there was any system involved, just that all gods WITHIN the book work within the 60th level range and as character levels are equated to CR...its not workable, just an offhand comment..but i know you like to speculate ever so much :)
