I play WoW and EQ2 (love the RP on ER and AB!) but won't be partaking of the DDI. Actually I'm running some PBP and a game on Open RPG as well, but that's moving off on a tangent.

I haven't seen anything from the DDI or 4E that fits into what me and my gaming buddies are actually looking for, so we'll be sticking with 3.5 or moving on to another game.

Course, I'm still not completely sold on it, but playing WoW has no bearing on the decision, as they're completely different entities. The only similarity is paying for it each month...but lots of things have monthly fees.

Exactly.

D&DI and MMORPGs are completely different types of animals. If WoW and EQ2 are mammals, D&DI's an avian.

Yup. I used to play an MMORPG for about two years then gave it up in favor of a REAL RPG because I started missing the roleplaying aspect that isn't really present in MMORPGs.
MMORPGs also require an incredible investment of time - way too much for my taste.

I'm undecided if I'll subscribe to DDI, currently the tendency is negative. I don't see me using it to play the game online and I have a feeling it won't be worth the subscription fee if that part of it isn't utilized.

I'd go with silicon- and carbon-based lifeforms, but yeah, close enough. :p

I read a lot of "WoW costs $15, I'll just spend that on D&DI and save some money."
Where? This is the first thread where I've seen that.

EDIT: WoW has no bearing on my DI. I'll continue playing WoW, though, even when I (probably) sign up for DI. I dropped CoX like a box of hot rocks, though, for not giving me value for my gaming dollar, so if it's as thin on fun as City of Snoozes was, it won't keep me for long. I'm hoping the virtual tabletop is goodness, though.

Actually there's a good chance that somewhere down the line as soon as I cant find players for 3.5 anymore, I'll be switching over to City of Heroes or WOW.

Really? I've seen it multiple times, it's the reason for this thread. Obviously I'm not going to comb the beeelion threads here to find them, but if I see more, I'll point em out. :)

My own guess -- just a guess -- is that those who can afford to spend $15 on WOW per month can also aford to spend $10 on D&DI. There will be very few agonizing over "which to buy, which to buy."

I'm one of 'em. The main reason I'm still playing World of Warcraft is that it's something to do between gaming sessions when I have an hour to kill here and there. When the DDI becomes important enough to me, I will not need Warcraft any more, as I'll probably be planning for D&D games. I can always rejoin later and make new characters if I really get jonesing for it - I don't play it to level, I play it for the sake of play.
