Are you going to buy the revised edition books?

  • Yes! I can't wait! I've already purchased five random books out of sheer enthusiasm!

  • No, I think I'll stick to the original. Introducing new rules is such a pain.

I'm buying. I hate having to refer to another page for errata, so I really haven't much. That means that, since I'm using first printings, my PH is especially a little dated. And my copy of the MM is falling apart, so I'll be buying another of those too. (Does anyone else have that problem? I've used the PH more, but it's the MM that's collapsing on me.)

Well, by the second print run, my PH (purchased within days of the 3e launch, though it wasn't heavily used until months later) may be showing enough wear to merit replacing, so that's what I voted for. I can't see upgrading my DMG or MM, though; I don't use either all that much.

I think I will get all 3. PHB because it is the most used. My DMG is getting worn and it's hardly used. For the MM I really want pictures of everything not just most everything. People keep saying they will just use the SRD. That will be good for the tweaks, but I don't think a lot of stuff will make it into the SRD. I think a lot of the new stuff will be blurbs about running a game, not cold hard rules.

I choose option 6, undecided

I'm in this category also. I may just go to the SRD and grab the bits I want to incorporate into my game.

For example: a more interesting Ranger class :) (so says an unabashed Ranger basher)

Ysgarran.

Option 6. My 2ed PHB lasted me a good 10 years. And is still very good. My core rulebooks are still in near mint condition. And I've used them alot.

I don't think I will. There are things I like in D&D 3E and things I dislike. The latter are unlikely to be fixed, so I don't really see the point in changing. Plus some of my players already have enough trouble as it is grasping the rules !

I'm in the wait and see category.

I'll use the books I've got now along with a printed version of the revised SRD. I'll check out any discussions and reviews here and if it seems worth it, I'll probably buy just the PHB.

I'm trying to cut back on my RPG spending, blasphemy I know, but I buy too much as it is and only want to pick up what I really want and the revised PHB just isn't on that list right now.

Sure, I'll get all three. It's just a matter of timing.

PHB is a sure, immediate buy. I've been toying with getting one for my wife, anyway. Now, she gets the hand-me-down (she may never open it, anyway) and I get the new book.

DMG depends on how much new stuff is in it. I'll get it anywhere from immediately to about three months later (i.e. when there's a slow release month).

MM is a "when a get around to it". I've got no problems with the current book's layout, etc. I understand the entries. A new format and added material is nice, but I'm already trying to figure out which monsters I want to include/cut for my homebrew world (more humanocentric than standard).
