Are you going to buy the revised edition books?

  • Yes! I can't wait! I've already purchased five random books out of sheer enthusiasm!

Can you say "biased poll". I knew you could. I really don't like the language you use to distinquish between one and two.

I certainly will be buying them and will not be waiting until the second print run, but "bought five random books"? What the heck is that supposed to mean?

I'll be buying the revised PHB, at least. The other two as well if they seem worthwhile. I figure, by the time they get released I'll be needing a new copy of the PHB anyway (getting a tad worn, it is).

I won't buy them becuase I don't need them. We are doing fine with the game as it is and the last thing I want to do is buy a ruleset that will make some of my 3rd party stuff slightly incompatable. If I have to do minor work to fix the 30 dollar core books I have now, or buy new 30 dollar core books and work to fix my other books I'll keep what I have.

I'll just use the SRD and cull out the changes. If nobody else produces a 3e -> 3.5e change document, then I will and post it on the web for everyone.

I might possibly change my mind if they end up super-cheap on buy.com, but even then I don't see the point of a revised MM.

I think I might buy the new PHB... other than that I don't really know if I would buy them or not. I need to get myself into the mindset of a college kid without much money pretty damn soon.

Well, I already have the second printing of PH, and since DMG and MM have not reached second printing (hence no opportunity print new corrections), I'd probably pick up the revised version of the two. Probably.

I'll just download the Revised SRD (when it comes out, hopefully the same time as the release) to update my second printing PH for the time being.

No. No point in the DM buying the book(s) and the players not (and they're not).
That's an interesting point. The reverse could limit sales as well. As a DM, how many times have you groaned over the fact that a player says the dreaded words, "And this rule, from this new book..."?

Although, having said that, it will be interesting to see just how useful the SRD is. People here have said they'll use it instead of buying so WotC is shooting itself in the foot. However, it may also boost sales because of the above example where players or DM's can refer to the SRD without having to buy the books so at least some of the players or DM's will be able to buy them.

Can you say, "Lacking a sense of humour,"? I thought you could...
