With the Colts on a run who looks worse right now? Brian Daboll or Anthony Richardson?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say ... neither? But if I had to choose ... Richardson?
Danny Dimes was good under Daboll- that's why he got the initial big contract. And then he got injured. I'd say that playing under Daboll made him a good QB, and now that he's healthy again and behind a better (not a good) OL and with a playcalled that is emphasizing play action (with Taylor) and precision passing, he's flourishing again. Besides, Daboll managed to make Danny Dimes look good AND got a 400 yd game out of Russell Wilson.
shrug Maybe he should be an offensive coordinator, and not a head coach.
Richardson? I feel for the guy. Sure, he could have done more. But he only started thirteen games in college before coming to the NFL. He was always going to be a project. The Colts didn't prepare him at all ... leading to him being injured his first year.
Which meant that he only had 17 starts to his name between the college and pros over four years (!!!! four games a year) before starting the 2024 season, when the Colts threw him under the bus.
Maybe he could have been great if he was handled differently (like Josh Allen*). Or maybe not. I don't think we will ever find out now.
*Reminder- Josh Allen was not named the starter the first year. He did become the starter due to injury and finished with a losing record, more turnovers than TDs, and a completion percentage barely above 50%. But do you know what? The Bills actually developed him because he was a project.
