i don't have time or money to give to most KS projects. but the few threads here or elsewhere aren't that hard to filter thru.

if that is the entirety of the users posts i label it spam.

but if they come back to contribute to other threads. then i might consider reading their sig or threads.

well, I raised attention to it. 43 of 100 people don't like what's happening.

Should we make some changes?

Should we just report 1 post wonders as spam, which would cut down the most objectionable?

If this was a democracy, the bill wouldn't pass. Not enough votes.

But I think there's still merit that a large enough consituency feels there's a problem. If we were talking about crime, and 43% of the population didn't like all the crime going on, would we sit back and change nothing?

Beats me. The spammage isn't the worst issue to have in the world. It's just something that diminishes the enjoyment of the site by 43% of the population

Well....43% of those who have voted in the poll at least. I wouldn't take that to mean 43% of all users of ENWorld have a problem with it.

I think a better measure would be to report those threads that are questionable/objectionable (the 1 post wonders as it were) as spam and let the mods handle it.

And this isn't a democracy.

no, it's not a democracy, but a dictatorship that listens to the concerns of its consituents and at least acknowledges that the situation bothers them is better behavior.

I brought the matter up, confirmed that some other people agree with me. By your logic, even if I had 99%, one could argue that only 99 people cared enough about the problem to vote and that the silent majority still outnumbers them. I call that lazy rationalization to disregard someone else's concern.

I think reporting the questionable posts is a fine recommendation. I had been letting them be, because I was not sure how the rest of the community felt about them. hence, this thread.

Now everybody knows that not everybody likes wading past that crap.
