Are YOUR friends cheating behind your back?

Good Story

Having actually done some writing for the AP I applaud your satire. Its rthym and vocabulary are actually pretty close to that of a real news story. You actually had me beliving for a line or two.

All in all a good show.

As to cheating. It happens. I look it at this way almost everybody has fudged a roll or two in their gaming career, I'm not going to fault anybody for that.

(bow) Thank you. Kindest compliment I've received. Even more pleasing because I've been a newspaper journalist myself for about 15 years now. I would certainly hope that I could capture the voice of an actual news story by now. :-)

Tiefling, if you ever make some of those, ill buy a dozen. :)

Hehe, see! It worked for playing cards and ballpoint pens. I guess it would work for dice too.
Better pitch to a manufacturer before someone else does, Tiefling.

I can't say I'd get any though. Then again, a set of dice with the famous reclining female silhouette (like on truck mudflaps) replacing the 1 would be neat. :)

Really. 60% of 4 people isn't that impressive a number! :p

It would sure impress me if I got that result. I'd love to know how to get 60% out of 4.:D

I DM and play in a few games and the only person I know who is cheating is one player (I won't call his real name here). Its gets boring as I see him cheat and he still does not know that everybody knows by now that he cheats like hell.

His trick is using mini dice (12mm) rolls them on his character sheet besides him (not on the table) Call out a number he likes (usualy between 17 and 20, in critic situations its always 20) and takes the dice back into his hands before (he hopes) somebody can look at them. Also he refuses to play with other dice then his own and when he rolls stats the avarage he throws with 3d6 is about 14 and nothing below 10.

We solved that very easly by just ignoring it, if he is happy with cheating so be it. Only he will never find or get special stuff, he never will get important clues, etc. His special power is cheating ours is for having an intresting game and knowing that he never will have a special moment of find something special/important.

You know, thinking about dice so much gave me a very wierd idea: porno-dice.

Basically you have a transparent, relatively large die. You make the numbers small and possibly semi-transparent so that you get the best view of the inside of the die. Inside it is miniature model of some nekkid person in one of a variety of naughty positions. There would be several such positions, and different models, and maybe even a pair of people if the die was large enough, so that you would have people collecting them.

DM: Where'd Bob go?
Player1: He wants us to game outside the bathroom door.
DM: Why? Is he sick?
Player2: No he just wants to be alone in case he rolls a critical.

An interesting wire story to share. Do you agree with these findings?:
- - - - - - - - - -

* Green is the most popular color of fashion-conscious dice owners.
I don't believe that green is the most popular. I only have 3 green dice out of my whole collection.
Some of the nearly 1,700 survey respondents admitted that they have gone to such great lengths to cheat during a game that they bought game leaders, or "GMs," beer or other alcoholic beverages. O'Brien said survey results were anonymous and did not specify how old the beer consumers were.
Don't ever do this when you have female gamers and the GM is horny.

A large number of respondents, 517, said they have filed or shaved their dice to increase the possibility of rolling positive results. O'Brien said some gamers prefer to take a more professionally finished path and buy pre-altered dice from gaming supplies companies -- for example, swapping a die numbered 1-20 with an identical die numbered 2-20 with an extra 20 instead of 1.
I even tried to melt a d20 to give me a favorable roll. Didn't work and boy did that stick up the joint.

I cheat if I think the DM is being unfair. I think that the 40% that said they don't cheat means that they don't all of the time.

Peace and smiles :)

I would have said purple but then... I'm known more for being 'Style-concious' than fashion conscious.

Silly them. I've always found Smarties work as excellent bribes - and are an awful lot cheaper too.....

That said - congratulations on an excellently written piece. I enjoyed it greatly

They also make excellent missiles to throw at annoying players!
