Personally, I'd like to see D20 Past as more of a D20 Axis & Allies game but it looks like D&D and Star Wars miniatures fans have another sibling.

It's funny how the same fears D&D players had about random figures are now being expressed by a new group who hasn't converted to the dark...*ahem* collectible side.

You will find that there is a segment of the population that gripes just to gripe.

I love the idea of not having to paint stuff, but I'm definitely one of those who hates the whole "collectible" marketing strategy. Let me buy what I want to buy and I assure you I'll spend a lot more money in the long run.

Darn -- 15mm? I doubt I'll be buying any of this. If it were 25mm World War 2 squad figures with the same paint job quality of the D&D minis, I would have been all over this.

25mm is a bit big for WWII skirmish, I think - a rifle would probably be able to hit anywhere on an average gaming table at that scale, let alone a tank or field gun. They probably also want to make sales to existing WWII skirmish gamers who'll use the minis with other rules sets, and the big dog in that market right now seems to be Flames of War, which is 15mm. I personally prefer 6mm for WWII, but that's because I also like larger scale battles.

I find the idea interesting, but due to the small scale, I'll pass. My collection is 25mm, and that's what I like. Then again, if there ends up a lot of people playing it and really enjoying it, I'll buy the starter just to be able to get in on the fun.
