Armor augment crystal + Warforged?

I'm in the position of equipping a level 4 warforged for an RPGA game tomorrow. I'm looking at some of the augment crystals from the MIC (I've got nothing better to waste the expansion slots on...).

Armor augment crystals say they can be put on any "magic item which grants an armor bonus." Obviously this can't be taken literally since a least crystal can be put on non-magical (masterwork) items.

So the obvious question is... Can a warforged use an armor augment crystal on itself by the RAW (I'd certainly allow it in my own campaigns, but that's not relevant).

Based on the fact that a warforged can have it's armor plating (whatever its called) enchanted as if it was normal armor, I would have to say that armor augment crystals are legal.

I don't remember reading that the Warforged's body counts as MW, so if you wanted to be picky you would have to bump it to atleast a +1. Other than that, and I wouldn't even hold you to that, it sounds perfectly legal. Now you need to get his fists up to +1, so he can use crystals on his slam attack. :)

It's seemingly implied that a warforged counts as a masterwork item, since it says they can be enchanted and in order to be enchanted something must be masterwork...

Incidentally, the judge at the game said it was okay and I ended up using the lesser crystal that gives +5 ac vs. ranged attacks.
