L Lojaan Hero Jan 1, 2009 #1 Hey guys, do any of you know if armor & shield check penalty is cumulative? Or do you use the highest value? So would someone in plate mail (-2) using a heavy shield (-2) have a total check penalty of -2 or -4? I can't find this in the PHB. Thanks!

Blizzardb First Post Jan 1, 2009 #2 I am certain it is cumulative, although there is not specific text explaining this about armor check. Refer to the text in PHB, page 275 (bottom right) - penalties add together, unless they are from the same power.
