Armor in movies.

Is there *any* scene in *any* movie where armor did its job?

I can think of only one possibility:

Aliens -- when the space marine was hit by the alien's acid blood near the end of the movie.

Any other instance?

Uh... any number of films where someone sits up after being shot, and rips their shirt open to reveal a bulletproof vest? (Or mithril shirt, perhaps...)

I always liked the hospital scene in Blade, where the cops fire a bunch of shots at him, bouncing off his armour, and he turns around and gives them that "What the hell are you thinking?" look...

You know I rather expected this to be about how so many movies have utterly inappropriate armor, or really ridiculous armor. You know, something like those stupid shoulder pads in First Knight or something.

Hmm, cases where armor works, well plenty of bullet proof vests work as mentioned. Shields certainly seem to work a lot in movies. Telling whether armor works or not is a lot trickier. I think there's a scene in 13th Warrior where the protagonist is saved by his mail shirt, though I could be remembering wrong.

I love how the knights in the movies NEVER take off their armor. Yeah, that's comfortable (and doesn't smell bad, either).

Excalibur... eating in full plate.

Does armor in movies only protect the main characters? Have grunts/mooks ever benefited from wearing armor?

Well, regardless of whether they're wearing armor or not, mooks always get taken out with outcome of 5 or better...

Well, since nobody has mentioned the obvious yet...

Frodo's mithril shirt saves his life in the mines of Moria.
