ARNOLD ASKS MILIUS TO WAIT!
Electronic Arts to produce King Conan?
Reported By: TheARNOLDFANS.com Staff
Monday, June 28, 2004

TheArnoldFans put in a call to the John Milius camp to find out if the wheels of pain are still turning in a greenlight motion or is the project staled up on the “tree of woe”? Moviehole.net tells us WB does not want to move forward unless Arnold is back on board - so we decided to do some investigating ourselves.

Although camp Milius has not heard of WB’s intentions, they have told us plenty of other new exciting news we shall break to you now. “Arnold called John about three or four months ago and ASKED JOHN TO WAIT for him,” says one source close to Milius.

We last broke the exclusive story to you that Arnold called Milius on the day he decided to run for Governor and told Milius he would hang up his loin cloth for good. Schwarzenegger also gave the Conan director his blessing in moving forward with the project and with another action star. Now it appears Arnold is having second thoughts and is eager to return to movies with the movie role that made him famous.

Arnold returning to the role of Conan with John Milius (who wrote and directed the original Conan the Barbarian) writing and directing? I'm a huge fan of the original Conan tales by Robert E. Howard in addition to the movie of Conan the Barbarian (although not Conan the Destroyer), so this news comes as a very pleasent surprise. I've read script reviews for King Conan: Crown of Iron from various movie sites over the last couple of years, and it sounds like a truly grand sword & sorcery epic. Hopefully this will all come together and Arnold will once again take up the mantle of the mighty Cimmerian.

(Oh, and please keep comments relating to Arnold's political career to yourself, please.)

Whoa! If this is true, it's good news indeed. But it sounds like a lot of time; I wonder if WB is willing to wait that long. I'm not familiar with the details of US governing, how long will Arnold be governor?

Conan the Barbarian is one of my all-time favorite movies. I was really bummed when I heard that he wouldn't be in Conan the King, and even more bummed to hear that the movie had been shelved indefinitely. I hope that this rumor is true.

IIRC, Arnold is filling out the term that Davis had before Davis had a recall election. I think that term expires the end of this year. But then again, California is a strange beast. :)

You don't say. *looks at avatar and sig* ;)

Anyway, as far as being Governor goes, if I remember right, in 2005 he's done. So Conan the King may be coming out in '06. We'll see, but I know that I'll be literally jumping for joy if that movie ever gets off the ground. :D

Personally, I think it's wishful thinking of the part of a fan masquerading as "a source close to Milius." Schwarzenegger may not have aspirations past 2004, but I doubt he'd call and say, "wait for me", if nothing else because he'd want to keep his options open.
