Damn straight. It's not like anything higher than monocellular life is going to ever evolve there before we colonize it ourselves, bringing our microbes there anyway.

perhaps, but you'd want to give that monocellular life a really good look-over before you colonize. If you're going to kill it off with our microbes, you want to understand it first. Barbarian's creedo, really - First you pillage, then you burn.

Of course, after something on the orderof a decade of exposure to hard vacuum and similarly hard radiation, the probe was probably about as sterile as we could possibly imagine.
