I thought about doing an Ars Magica d20 and replace the Vancian Magic. Wizards would get 8 + Int bonus skill points per level (of course x4 at 1st level). The techniques would all be Int based skills and the forms would be Charisma based skills. Then damage would be around 1d6 per level of damage inflicted. Of course that means getting rid of most of the character classes or changing them greatly (you could make techniques and forms different class skills for different classes, a Ranger could have Animal and Herbam and then have to buy all his Techniques as cross class skills). Eh, its an idea.

Check Modern Magic by The Game MEchanics. It has a very similar system broken down like the UA Incantations for d20 use. It for all classes however.

Finally picked it up. THe layout is top notch, but the art is a little less then great. I need to read it but the look of the book is great. :D

My sentiments exactly.

But the art in an RPG book doesn't really matter much to me. The content that I've read (so far..again, not much) has been top notch.

Glad to see that they're not associating the Tremere with vampires this time around (at least not in the parts I've gotten to yet).

Art is important, it doesn't change the rules or the way the game its played but many times I like to use it to set the scene. YMMV

Page count is 235, + character sheet, including appendices and index. This makes it slightly shorter than 4th ed by that count, but as the font-size is smaller, the material is at least comparable.

I'm reading through the book and its seems a bit more complicated then I was thinking. Not too complicated mind you, just more. One of the areas that seems odd is the character generation and the fact that you generate a character through their life. It just seems a little odd to define these points were spent as a kid, these as a young adult, and these as an apretntice, etc. How well in practice does this work?

It works pretty well, IMHO. Your characters end up more well-rounded.
