I am looking to find someone that can do a map commission for me for personal use. Specifically I am looking for a map of Elturel after its return to Faerun, post-Avernus, with some specific features based events that occurred in my Avernus campaign.

I don't really know where to start, including how much to expect to pay. Does anyone have any suggestions for trusted, reliable artists that could do this? Thanks!

The size & complexity & color (or lack thereof) of the piece will influence the price. $150 to $250 for a colorful city map produced at slightly less than WotC/Kobold Press worthy quality would be a great price. Though more detail on individual buildings or more artistic flourishes could make the price twice that. And if it's intended to be an exclusive piece for a commercial product, then the price will jump 2 to 3 times that.

I'm a big fan of Derek at Elven Tower.

I'm also currently following Alyssa Faden. I think she is pretty tied up with her various projects for Frog God and such, and she does mostly dungeons, but the scale of her work is definitely city-worthy.

You could also reach out to the original cartographer who did the map in BG:DiA, Jared Blando, and see if he takes commissions or might have a recommendation. Depending on his agreement with WotC he might retain right to some concept art of the city that went unused. It's a slim chance, but might be worth it.

That's a great idea. I reached out to him. Thanks.
