I've got a job illustrating the Hyborean Gazetteer for Mongoose Games's Conan d20 RPG, I thought I would post my first illo for that book.

Give a big thanks to Paul, my Mongoose Art Director, for granting permission. I hope you check out both Conan and Hyborean Gazetteer!

Can check out the mongoose project here:

The illo is King Conan of Aquilonia, battered but still standing after the battle.

Quite nice, and congratulations on the job!

I'm interested in the game, myself, and the previews have done nothing to help me break that interest. :)

Nice Storn, I was lurking over at the Pen forums and saw this earlier. Was running over here to link it :)

Congratulations, and thanks for a look at the art. It looks great.

Maybe you can answer a question I have: Why is Conan almost always depicted beardless? I can't recall Howard ever describing him as such, and I'd assume a Cimmerian would have typically have a beard.

I've asked this of Conan gurus before, but have never got an answer. As an official Conan illustrator, do you have any insight?

My guess? Because Howard would be very careful about mentioning hair and beards and mustaches in his other descriptions of other characters. In my art list, I have Constantius and Oldeva...both are described with facial hair in Howard's own words.
