Forked from my own thread (http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/313245-en-world-we-need-your-help.html)

The art-folks often hang around in here, so I'm hoping to get your attention, especially.

As noted in the other thread, my wife and I are running a charity raffle at Arisia (a Boston sci-fi & fantasy convention in January). We will, of course, need to put up posters all around the con, asking folks to buy tickets. And posters ought ot have eye-catching art, and some of you have been shown to be pretty darned good. I'd love to put some of your pieces on posters.

I have major need for good old black-and-white art, for printing on standard 8.5"x11" pages and plastering up everywhere.

If someone has a really cool idea for full-color art, we might want to talk before you go through that level of effort. They'd be useful, but I know they'd take so much more work.

My wife's team is "Team Shadow" (for "Some Hokey Acronym Describing Our Walkers"), and that might be a fine inspiration for some of you.

Any takers?

Maybe someone has already-created art that could serve this purpose? Maybe the artist could include their website address on the art?

I've no connection with Umbran's event, but just thought I'd throw out a couple of ideas to help.

And excellent ideas they are, too!

It doesn't have to be a custom job, by any means - if you've got a pre-existing piece you'd let us use, we'd love to have it.

And, everyone should get credit for helping! Even if the artwork doesn't include credit or reference to the source itself, we'd be happy to put such on the posters.

It's for the Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure - raising money for research into cures for breast cancer.

Themes? Sci-fi and fantasy (since the raffle will be at a sci-fi/fantasy convention). Arisia's a broad convention, covering anime, superheroes, urban fantasy, steampunk, epic fantasy, hard and soft sci-fi. RPGs, wargames, and CCGs are also represented at the con.

As to format - it'd help if the art wasn't in a proprietary format. Anything that's pretty common I can probably use.

How soon? The Convention is the weekend of January 13th.

I am not terribly computer-savvy, really only enough to scan my pencils into Photoshop for coloring. I am also at the library, so getting stuff to you is difficult via email, etc. I may be able to use a jump drive to transport via my office and here, though. I am up for helping out, and the fact that the deal goes down in a few months may assist me in that. I may just attempt a couple of things through snail-mail, if I can manage. Is there a min/max size of drawing needed? Can the medium be any black-and-white, or are you looking for just pencils, pen-and-ink, ink-wash, or maybe scanned-and-reprinted any of these? Color could be managed, I guess, but if I do it digitally, file size may get cumbersome.
It has been at least 10 years since I sent any art online, but I remember using either JPEG or TIFF. I have no idea if those are proprietary. I'm pretty sure that a PSD---Photoshop Document---would be, and I am uncertain if they even travel over non-network systems. Sorry my knowledge is so sketchy, but I'm sure we can work something out.
I will have to use something new, I think, but haven't looked through my old artwork, yet.

That's an excellent question, Felon, but I don't know the answer off the top of my head. I'll have to look around to see if it is still there.

(And, of course, a *bump* against cancer!)
