Pathfinder 1E Artwork for Pathfinder and others

Forget 3rd, I miss the art from 2e. DiTerlizzi's Planescape and BROM's Dark Sun made the setting come to life and gave them that perfect touch with all the right differences to make them stand distinct so perfectly.
DiTerlizzi is my favourite D&D artist, I have yet to find a artist that I like more. It is thanks to him that I imagine Sigil the way I do. If they were ever to bring Planescape back, I would hope, no demand they brought him back as main artist. I would be so happy if they even managed to bring him back for the Sigil section in DMG2

I completely agree with the Professor (and Deity knows it's not often that this happens)... I don't buy campaign settings anymore, but I would if WotC makes Dark Sun with BROM as main illustrator and art director.

Same thing for DiTerlizzi and Planescape.

...Actually, if WotC made a DiTerlizzi-illustrated Feywild book it would be ten kinds of awesome...

Although I don't really like Pathfinder as a ruleset, I admire their art direction and production values. I enjoy their artwork and maps a lot.

Have faith my friends. Michael Komarck did the cover art of the PHB3. With any luck, the more advanced RPG books will see a more mature sort of artwork (not that I don't like Reynolds, but I prefer realistic and jaw-dropping).

I guess I'm in the minority, I find 4E's are to be pretty blah for the most part. I vastly prefer 3E's art, and am diggin' the art for Pathfinder.

Ok, I know that many of you may like the art that is being done today. However, is there anyone out there like me that misses seeing the quality of artwork that was done in the Forgotten Realms books of 3rd edition or quality art work similar to that? I love the PF stuff and the writing will sell me on that alone. However, I just don't care for the style being presented today. Maybe It's me but it seems as though 4th edition and PF are both going down that direction anymore. Maybe it is what will bring in new people which is great but it is just to cartoonish for my taste. Just my opinion and what I like. If it is your style, great! It's just not mine and want to see if there are others out there with similar thoughts.

I couldn't think of a better style of art than what Pathfinder uses. I do like 4e's art, but think the style is just completely perfect on PF. Someone else had said it best about the art in that every image makes you want to play Pathfinder.

However, I truly enjoyed looking at the art in 3e FR and enjoyed Keith Parkinson's cover art for FR too.

But hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Happy Gaming!

I love Pathfinder art!

I do like 4E art. I'd love it more, however, if they hadn't standardized tieflings with cabbagehead horn brows. I set my teeth when that art style spills over into Pathfinder.
