Ashin's Commission: The Great Escape!

"Start a fight here and we certainly won't have enough energy left for the master...How foolish," Zaeryl sighs, leaning against a wall with his crossbow drawn and pointed vaguely towards the prisoners.

*As Ironwolf makes the call towards the prisoners, some of them rattle at their stone prisons, and a few that were shivering cry out for rescue and mercy.*

*Ironwolf's kick doesn't even come close to creating an opening. That's no surprise though--these things are beastly-strong. No cage that could hold them inside is going to fall to a casual kick.*

Ironwolf will sheath his weapon and pull out his crowbar. If he can find something to pry loose, he'll try that. Otherwise, he'll take it in a two handed grip to see if he can smash something loose.

Eternity does not want to waste power and hopes that they are not wasting precious time, but her conscience cannot let go of the idea that some of these villagers may be worth saving.

*While the Afflicted have beastly strength, Hulgyr's is, in fact, even greater than that of the smaller Afflicted, and Ironwolf is very large. Between the two of them, they manage to break loose one of the stalactites barracading a cell with a few cowering villagers. But the villagers remain in place, fearfully transfixed. Feeling a dark tainted weight upon his soul emanating from the midnight-black crystal, Ironwolf advances forward and uses his long reach to smash the evil thing asunder. As the aura fades from this cell, the villagers visibly revert slightly, from wild-eyed and panicked like an animal to a more natural fear and horror at the situation.*

"Tha...Hyrag bless you," a tattered woman manages, scrambling to grab some of the less respondant and leave the cell.

*Still leaning against the wall with crossbow in hand, Zaeryl shakes his head:*

"They'll never make it out alive without being killed by the Afflicted. And now what? Walk them out and let the great evil spread while we ignore it? Bring them with us to die in the coming onslaught? You really need to think things through. They would have been better off with a quick merciful end to their suffering, no?"

"No Zaeryl" Hulgyr replies with a hint of anger in his voice "They should be free. They can be safe if we kill the evil. Hulgyr don need think bout that!"

ooc: I guess Ironwolf and Hulgyr continue freeing the less affected afflicted and leave the worse ones to deal with later...

"So what? You're going to have them stay put when at least one enemy escaped to bring backup? Speaking of which, we should really make ourselves scarce before that backup finds us. Or do you think they can find their way out of this maze of tunnels before anything finds them?" Zaeryl postulates, "Whatever. We did say suit yourself. If we have to fight again here and we lose our momentum, well, let's hope that won't be the case. Carry on."

(OOC: How far gone do they have to be for you to leave them? Keep in mind that smashing the crystal does cause some unknown amount of reversion to their humanity, as shown with the last group)

"In them cages they are sure to die or go evil. Now they have some chance" With a slight zealous attitude "It is better to die free than to rot in evil cages!"

ooc: Hulgyr leaves the decision on who to free up to Ironwolf, relying on his judgement.
