The newest column on D&D Insider asks the following question:
- What is D&D Insider?

Huh. An interesting question for a customer to pose. Makes you wonder what future questions will be...

- How does D&D Insider provide the most value for my money?
- Is it true that I'll be able to access my products online with the simple entry of a code and a nominal fee?
- What makes the Monster Manual V the best Monster Manual ever?
- What is the Wizards of the Coast's mission?

I don't mind new information. I just mind when you pretend to set up a Dear Abby column and use it for marketing info. People got a little annoyed when Ask the Sage was answering 4e questions for the same reason. Maybe they could change the title one of the following...

- Wizards asks Wizards
- Let's Ask Ourselves Leading Questions
- Wizards Presents: Information in Question/Answer Format
- FAQ (Frequently Anticipated Questions)

This is your complaint? Jeez!

So, you don't think there are lots of gamers still asking what this whole D&D Insider thing is all about? Not everybody combs wizards.com and enworld.org for the latest info as soon as it is released.

I think far more people have asked "what is DnD Insider?" then "Does dwarf facial hair re-grow at the same rate as human facial hair?"
The later actually appears in the faq.

I'm not really bashing Wizards. I like Wizards. I'm just poking fun at them for being kind of silly. I think there are TONS of people who want to know the answers to that question. I *certainly* do. I'm happy that they're answering questions that people want to know the answers too. I just don't want to have to play pretend to get the answers.

That's really the point. These sort of questions and answers belong in a FAQ, not a "Dear Sir" column. Wizards is not responding to people writing in, and I don't see the need for that little charade. They're coming up with interesting questions on their own and then answering them. I have no problem with this in some other format. There's just no other way for them to do it right now.
